ROAD CLOSURE STARTING JANUARY 3RD 

Public Works would like to notify the public that a road closure on Carolina Road (Route 32) near Cypress Chapel Road began January 3rd 2022.  Detours will be in effect until further notice.  

The City of Suffolk is currently replacing the bridge structure on Carolina Road (Rte. 32) over Cypress Swamp (Structure #1814). 

The existing bridge is a four span concrete T‐beam superstructure on concrete substructure spanning 90 ft. The replacement will include a new roughly 100 ft. long span bridge with approaches matching existing conditions.

Bridge plans and detour are available as reference in addition to site pictures for the existing conditions of the bridge.
