Manning Bridge Rd - Route 58 Improvements

MANNING BRIDGE ROAD / ROUTE 58 INTERSECTION

Improvements at Route 58/Manning Bridge Road Intersection.  Design will accommodate a new connector road between Route 58 and Kenyon Road on the north side of the intersection.

NANSEMOND

NANSEMOND PARKWAY BRIDGE

Replacement of the superstructure with a single prestressed concrete voided slab supported on new concrete abutments.

NORTH SUFFOLK CONNECTOR STUDY

This new connection will provide an unimpeded route between Shoulders Hill Road and Nansemond Parkway to maintain adequate traffic flow between northern Suffolk and the Downtown Suffolk urban core.

ROUTE 58 HOLLAND ROAD WIDENING

The 3.1 mile widening project will provide for the construction of an additional travel lane both east bound and west bound from Route 58/13/32 bypass to approximately 0.7 miles west of Manning Bridge Road.

FREEMAN MILL ROAD BRIDGE REPLACEMENT

Replace the bridge and perform minor roadwork on the Freeman Mill Bridge over Spivey Swamp (Structure #8049).

Godwin Boulevard

GODWIN BOULEVARD CORRIDOR IMPROVEMENTS

Widening of the roadway from a typical 4-lane section to a 6-lane section.  The widening involves adding an interior lane in each direction. 

Overpass Improvements Base Layout

NANSEMOND PARKWAY / WILROY RD OVERPASS

Realigning the intersection of Nansemond Parkway and Wilroy Road in order to provide a grade separated overpass for Nansemond Parkway over the Commonwealth Railway tracks.

Oldetown Drainage

OLDETOWN DRAINAGE

This Master Plan provides recommendations to replace and relocate infrastructure into the right-of-way (ROW) and to improve stormwater infrastructure to provide adequate capacity. The Master Plan also looks at rehabilitation options for system components in poor condition and has divided the project into six phases.

PRUDENCE ROAD AT PRUDEN CENTER ENTRANCE

Intersection improvements at Pruden Boulevard (US 460) and Prudence Road to allow for left turn movements both north and south of Pruden Boulevard.

SHOULDERS HILL ROAD / ROUTE 17 BRIDGE ROAD

Widening of Route 17 from four to six lanes from approximately 2,000 feet west of the intersection to approximately 3,300 feet east of the intersection and the widening of Shoulders Hill Road from two to four lanes to approximately 1500 feet south of the intersection.

Improvements at the intersection of Nansemond Parkway and Sleepy Hole Road adjacent to Nansemond River High School.

PItchkettle Road Realignment

PITCHKETTLE ROAD REALIGNMENT 

To increase corridor safety for both pedestrians and drivers. The project will also enhance flow of traffic from Prentis St to Pitchkettle Rd while providing some much needed aesthetic improvements. 

Pughsville Area Drainage

PUGHSVILLE AREA DRAINAGE

Installing a drainage trunk line down John Street from Townpoint Road to the Outfall at the end of John Street in Chesapeake. A stormwater pond will also be included South of Queen Street.

Rehabilitate the culverts on Turlington Road over Kilby Creek. 

Diverging Diamond

ROUTE 10/32 DIVERGING DIAMOND INTERCHANGE

Convert the Godwin Blvd interchange with the Suffolk Bypass (US 460/58/13) from a partial cloverleaf design to a diverging diamond interchange (DDI).
