Commissioner of the Revenue
Mission Statement
It shall be the Mission of the Commissioner of the Revenue's Office to provide friendly, professional, and equitable service to the citizens of the City of Suffolk.
Purpose
The purpose of the office of the Commissioner of the Revenue is to assess all personal property, issue city business licenses, administer special taxes, and process state income tax returns.

Susan Draper
Commissioner of the RevenueSusan L. Draper, a lifelong Suffolk resident, strives to serve all customers in a fair, professional and equitable manner. Providing excellent customer service remains a top priority of her office.
Ms. Draper has 20 years of experience in a Commissioner of the Revenue’s office. She has been with the City of Suffolk Commissioner’s Office since 2006. She served as Chief Deputy Commissioner of the Revenue from 2007 until she began serving as the Commissioner of the Revenue, commencing October 1, 2014.
Ms. Draper is a graduate of the former Forest Glen High School, Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School and Old Dominion University. She is also a Certified Public Accountant. She has been designated as Master Commissioner of the Revenue from the Weldon Cooper Center at the University of Virginia.
Ms. Draper is a member of the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Association, Virginia Association of Local Tax Auditors and Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers.
