In 2015, the City of Suffolk Department of Parks & Recreation embarked on a comprehensive Master Plan. The objective of this plan was to translate the community’s values and vision into an action plan for parks, recreation facilities, programs and events.
Community input was the cornerstone of this entire process and the Department strove to obtain as comprehensive an input as possible. With that in mind, Suffolk citizens were invited to participate in one of three public meetings. The meetings purpose was to identify the community’s vision and unmet needs for parks and recreation in Suffolk.
Here is a quick overview:
January 2015, surveys were sent randomly to many citizens of Suffolk. We received valuable input!
June 2015, Parks and Recreation presented the survey findings at City Council.
February 2016, our Master Plan is approved by City Council.
