Under the Command of Investigations the Criminal Investigations Division is responsible for the investigation of various crimes throughout the city. On average, Criminal Investigations investigates 2500 serious crimes each year. Criminal Investigations includes all detectives, narcotics investigators, neighborhood enforcement officers, CSI, crime analysis, and criminal intelligence. Each Precinct is staffed with a Property Crimes Detective and a Neighborhood Enforcement Team.
About Major Buie
Major James (Danny) Buie joined the Suffolk Police Department in September of 1996. Throughout his career he has worked various assignments to include Uniform Patrol, Special Investigations, Special Operations, Administration and was the first supervisor chosen to lead the Neighborhood Enforcement Team.
During his career, Major Buie has served as a member of the department's SWAT team and is currently its Executive SWAT Officer. Major Buie has attended various law enforcement schools such as the West Point Leadership School, Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS) and is a graduate of the 264th session of the FBI National Academy.
