Evacuation Routes

Evacuation Orders

Evacuation orders are intended for those living or working in harm’s way. For example, low-lying areas are vulnerable to storm surge or flooding or you may be in the pathway of a hazardous materials plume. Mobile or manufactured homes and travel trailers are especially vulnerable to high winds. Emergency Management officials may order an evacuation for people who live in these dwellings to keep them safe from the impact of high winds.

You may not need to leave the city to avoid a hazard. Consider relocating with a friend or family member who lives out of harm’s way or in one of the city’s Disaster Shelters until the danger passes. Don't wait for the last minute to make arrangements or to implement your evacuation plan as you may find yourself stranded on the highway.
