The Suffolk Fire Prevention Bureau is responsible for determining fire origin and cause, be it accidental, natural, or incendiary, threats to burn, oversight of the juvenile fire setters program, fire fatalities, serious fire related injuries, incidents involving explosive devices, and environmental crimes. Fire investigators have full police powers and routinely conduct criminal investigations throughout the city. Investigators also partner with other agencies and departments in order to maximize resources when faced with large scale incidents and multi-jurisdictional issues.
