Concealed Handgun Permit


Any person twenty-one years of age or older may apply in writing to the clerk of the circuit court in which he or she resides, or if he or she is a member of the United States Armed Forces, the county or city in which he or she is domiciled, for a five-year permit to carry a concealed handgun. Application fee of $50 applies. Applications are available online (PDF) or at the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.

Deferred Payments - Criminal Division


Pursuant to Virginia Code Section 19.2-354, the Court does hereby authorize the Clerk of this Court to establish and approve, in conformity with Virginia Code Section 19.2-354 and Rule 1:24 of the Rules of Supreme Court of Virginia, individual deferred or installment payment agreements for defendants convicted of, or found not innocent in the case of a juvenile, and ordered to pay fines, costs and/or restitution for, traffic infractions or violations of any criminal law of the Commonwealth or of any political subdivision of the Commonwealth.

Land Records Cover Sheet


Any deed or other instrument conveying or relating to an interest in real property must be filed with a cover sheet detailing the information contained in the deed or other instrument necessary for the clerk to properly index such instrument.

Marriage License


Marriage license applications are accepted by appointment.   Licenses that are issued anywhere in the Commonwealth of Virginia, may be used anywhere in the Commonwealth. The marriage license fee is $30. Both parties must be present and must present a valid photo identification. The marriage license is valid for 60 days. If the marriage does not take place within 60 days from the date the license was issued, a new license must be issued and additional fees must be paid.

Notary Public


A Notary Public is a person legally empowered to witness and certify documents and to take affidavits and depositions. Applications for appointment as a Notary Public are to be completed online at the  Secretary of the Commonwealth's website. The applicant should receive notice that their application has been approved within 3 weeks of receipt. The notary then has sixty days to present themselves to the Circuit Court to take their oath of office and pick up their commission certificate. A Clerk's fee of $10 applies.

Passport Information


Applications are processed by appointment only. The Clerk's Office is a Passport Acceptance Facility for the U.S. Department of State and accepts passport applications on its behalf. The passport execution fee payable to Clerk of Court is $35. Other fees apply and are payable by check or money order to U.S. Department of State and collected by Clerk of Court at time of application. The most current passport and other travel related information and forms can be obtained from U.S. Department of State. Forms are also available at the Circuit Court Clerk's Office.
