In observance of the Presidents’ Day holiday, Suffolk City offices will be closed Monday, February 19, 2018. Normal operations will resume Tuesday, February 20, 2018, at 8:30 a.m. The City observes all State-designated holidays. Presidents’ Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia, and all state offices are closed on this day.
Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled next week. TFC Recycling will also conduct their normal recycling collection routes. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. The Southeastern Public Safety Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk and the Regional Landfill will be open Monday, February 19 from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.
Suffolk Transit will operate on a normal schedule on Monday, February 19.
Suffolk Joint Use Recreation Centers (Mack Benn Jr., Booker T. Washington, Kings Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, and Oakland) will operate on a normal schedule for the Kids Zone Before and After School programs as this is a Suffolk Public Schools make-up day. After 6 p.m., these centers will be open for youth league athletic practices and games. The East Suffolk Recreation Center and Whaleyville Community Center will be closed Monday, February 19.
Suffolk’s four major parks (Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole, and Bennett's Creek) will remain open Monday, February 19; however, no park attendant will be on duty.
The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Monday, February 19.
The Suffolk Parks and Recreation Administrative Office will be closed Monday, February 19.
The Morgan Memorial Library, North Suffolk Library, and Chuckatuck Library will be closed Monday, February 19 and will reopen on Tuesday, February 20 at 10 a.m.
The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal will be unmanned on Monday, February 19. The field and self-service fuel island will remain open during this time. Suffolk BBQ at the Airport will be open February 19.
The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center and Seaboard Station Railroad Museum will remain open on Monday, February 19.
