[ARCHIVED] City Offices Memorial Day Closing Schedule

 

In observance of the Memorial Day holiday, Suffolk City offices will be closed Monday, May 28, 2018. Normal operations will resume Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. The City observes all state-designated holidays. Memorial Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all State offices are closed on this day.


Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled next week. TFC Recycling will also conduct their normal recycling collection routes. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 514-7630.


The Southeastern Public Safety Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open Monday, May 28th  from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.  The Regional Landfill will be open Monday, May 28th from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m.


Suffolk Transit will not operate on Monday, May 28th due to the holiday.


All Suffolk Parks & Recreation joint use recreation facilities will be closed on Monday, May 28th with no before and after school care and no athletic practices scheduled. The East Suffolk Recreation Center and Whaleyville Community Center will be closed Monday, May 28th. The Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administrative Office will be closed Monday, May 28th.


Suffolk’s four major parks – Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole, and Bennett's Creek – will remain open Monday, May 28th; however, no park attendant will be on duty.

Cypress Park Pool will be open on Memorial Day from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.


The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Sunday, May 27th and Monday, May 28th.


All Suffolk City Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck) will be closed Monday, May 28th.


The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center and Seaboard Station Railroad Museum will remain open on Monday, May 28th. The Visitor Center is open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Railroad Museum will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.


The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal will be unmanned on Monday, May 28th. The field and self-service fuel island will remain open during this time. Suffolk BBQ at the Airport will be open May 28th.
