The Suffolk Fire & Rescue Office of Emergency Management is encouraging individuals, families, schools, and private businesses to register for the upcoming Great SouthEast ShakeOut Earthquake Drill set for Thursday, October 18, 2018 at 10:18 a.m. To date, there are approximately 694,000 individuals, families, school districts, and private businesses registered for the drill in Virginia with the goal for the State set at 2 million.
The Great SouthEast ShakeOut is a regional opportunity to practice how to be safer during big earthquakes: "Drop, Cover and Hold On." The ShakeOut has also been organized to encourage communities, schools, and organizations to review and update emergency preparedness plans and supplies, and to secure your space in order to prevent damage and injuries.
