A section of Pughsville Road will be closed from Townpoint Road to Shoulders Hill Road beginning on Saturday, September 14th for the installation of approximately five hundred feet of sanitary sewer line. The closure area will be in place for approximately 6 to 8 weeks however, the affected area will remain accessible for local residents, school buses, and emergency vehicles.
This sewer installation is being conducted in conjunction with the construction of the Wildwood subdivision development, located adjacent to Pughsville Road, and will also bring sewer service to two existing homes. The full closure is necessary because of the depth of construction required to maintain flow.
Suffolk Public Works and Suffolk Public Utilities have been working extensively with the involved contractor to ensure that this interruption is as limited in duration as possible in order to minimize the impacts to those affected. Upon completion of the sewer installation, there will be some remaining right of way enhancements and repaving to be completed, however, no full closures are anticipated as the work should be completed with periodic lane closures.
Signage has been posted in advance of the upcoming closure in addition to door hangers and other methods to notify the public.
