COMMONWEALTH RAILWAY TO MAKE EMERGENCY CROSSING REPAIRS

Commonwealth Railway has requested from Public Works a permit to make emergency crossing repairs for safety at the Nansemond Parkway and Wilroy Road crossing on tomorrow, March 26, 2020, from 8 a.m. until approximately 4 p.m. This will require a complete closure of this crossing to vehicular traffic. A detour will be in place. The railroad noted that these repairs are of a safety emergency nature and they are fully responsible for all work associated with this closure.

They further advise of a similar closure for emergency crossing repairs on Shoulders Hill Road that will occur next Thursday, April 2, 2020, again from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Public Works Traffic Engineering staff will monitor these closures and detours, and will assist to minimize the impacts to the public as much as possible.
