The City of Suffolk, in partnership with the Western Tidewater Health District, will be offering two FREE drive-thru community testing events for COVID-19 on Friday, June 5th, and on Wednesday, June 10th.
Testing on Friday, June 5th will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or until tests run out), and will take place at the Health & Human Services Building located in Downtown Suffolk at 135 Hall Avenue.
Testing on Wednesday, June 10th will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. (or until tests run out), and will take place at Bennett’s Creek Park, located at 3000 Bennetts Creek Park Road in North Suffolk.
Testing is for any individual, including children, who comes to the testing sites on a first-come, first-served basis. Residents who wish to be tested are encouraged to either drive-up to the testing site, or walk-up directly. All testing offered at these locations is FREE. Social distancing in the walk-up portion of the facility will be required.
The tests are a nasopharyngeal swab that tests for current presence of the virus. Asymptomatic carriers may test positive if they have the virus. This is not an antibody test, and unless you currently have the virus, cannot tell if you have previously been exposed to it. Test results will be provided within 3 to 4 business days. Those testing positive will be contacted by phone. Those testing negative will be sent results via U.S. Mail to the address provided.
