PUBLIC FEEDBACK MEETINGS SCHEDULED FOR KINGS HIGHWAY BRIDGE OPTIONS
Suffolk Public Works advises of several opportunities for the public to provide feedback on the desire for a new Kings Highway Bridge. The project is not currently funded, however, the City needs public input on the preferred location of a new bridge if one is to be constructed in the future.
Two outdoor public meetings are scheduled, including the Driver Location on Wednesday, October 28th, from 4 pm to 6 pm at Sleepy Hole Park, 4616 Sleepy Hole Road; and the Chuckatuck Location on Thursday, October 29th, from 4 pm to 6 pm at the entrance to Lone Star Lakes Park, 401 Kings Highway.
In keeping with Governor Ralph Northam’s mandates due to COVID-19, the wearing of face masks and social distancing measures will be practiced at these outdoor public meetings.
For those unable to attend the scheduled meetings, feedback can be provided at the online survey that can be found at the project website, www.suffolkva.us/1482/Kings-Highway-Bridge-Study.
The public comment period will close 21 calendar days after these public feedback meetings. City of Suffolk representatives will review and evaluate all information received as a result of the public meetings. Written comments must be postmarked, emailed, or delivered to the City of Suffolk by November 19, 2020, to the following address: Kings Highway Bridge, Robert E. Lewis, P.E., Assistant Director of Public Works, City Hall, 2nd Floor, 442 West Washington Street, Suffolk, VA 23434; phone 757-514-7725; email: relewis@suffolkva.us.
Written comments that are received at the public information meetings, or by the November 19, 2020 deadline, will be made a part of the official record.
