[ARCHIVED] City Offices' Veterans Day Closing Schedule

In observance of Veterans Day, Suffolk City offices will be closed Wednesday, November 11, 2020. Normal operations will resume Thursday, November 12, 2020, at 8:30 a.m. Please note, however, that the majority of City of Suffolk facilities, as well as the Treasurer’s Office and the Commissioner of the Revenue’s Office inside City Hall and their satellite offices at the North Suffolk Library, remain closed to the public until further notice due to the impacts of COVID-19. The City observes all State-designated holidays. Veterans Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all State offices are closed on this day.

 

Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash as scheduled on Tuesday, November 10TH, but will operate on a one-day delay the remainder of the week, with Wednesday’s collection picked up on Thursday, Thursday’s collection on Friday, and Friday’s collection on Saturday. TFC Recycling will conduct recycling collection routes on the same schedule, with Tuesday running as normal, and Wednesday’s collection on Thursday, Thursday’s collection on Friday, and Friday’s collection on Saturday. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on the day of collection. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will have their collection days run on the regular schedule on Tuesday and Friday. The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11th.  The SPSA Regional Landfill will be open from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Wednesday, November 11th.

 

Suffolk Transit will operate as scheduled on Wednesday, November 11th

 

Suffolk Parks & Recreation Joint Use Recreation Centers (King’s Fork, Creekside, Northern Shores, Oakland, Booker T. Washington, Mack Benn, Jr.) will be closed Wednesday, November 11th. The Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be closed Wednesday, November 11th.

 

The East Suffolk Recreation Center and the Whaleyville Recreation Center will be closed on Wednesday, November 11th.

 

Suffolk’s four major parks (Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole,

Bennett's Creek) will remain open Wednesday, November 11th; however, no park attendant will be on duty.

 

All Suffolk City Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck) will be closed Wednesday, November 11th. The curbside pickup service will not be available on Wednesday, November 11th

 

The Suffolk Art Gallery will be closed Wednesday, November 11th.

 

The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center Information-To-Go table, located near the front entrance of the Visitor Center, will be available on Wednesday, November 11th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Staff will be onsite to assist visitors during that time. Public access to the interior of the Visitor Center remains closed to the public. The Suffolk Seaboard Station Railroad Museum remains closed to the public and will not be open on Wednesday, November 11th.  

 

The Suffolk Executive Airport Terminal will be unmanned Wednesday, November 11th. The airfield, self-service fuel island, and restaurant will remain open on Wednesday, November 11th.
