The Department of Public Works advises that a major transportation project on Lake Cohoon Road/State Route 639 will be beginning in late January. The City’s contractor will replace the deck and superstructure on the bridge over the CSX railroad at the crossing located just north of Holland Road.
The $2.25 million project will replace the entirety of the deck and superstructure to the 400-foot long bridge. While the abutments and columns will be restored, they will not require replacement. Preliminary activities will begin in late January, and the road will be closed in late February and is anticipated to be reopened in late December 2021. We will continue to keep the public informed about road closure dates and detour information. Signage will be posted in advance of the closure date.
