[ARCHIVED] CITY OF SUFFOLK TO CLOSE COVID-19 CALL CENTER

The City of Suffolk will be closing its’ COVID-19 Call Center today, Friday, March 5, 2021, at 5 p.m. due to the decrease in call volume. The Call Center had opened on Monday, February 8, 2021 to provide information and address COVID-19 vaccination issues in the Western Tidewater Health District.

As a reminder, residents with questions about the vaccination process or needing assistance in pre-registering for vaccines with the Virginia Department of Health can contact the State Call Center at 1-877-VAX-IN-VA (1-877-829-4682) or register online at www.vaccinate.virginia.gov.

Virginia’s Call Center is open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. It is staffed by 750 live operators who can answer questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and help people get pre-registered. The call center has English- and Spanish-speaking agents, as well as a call-back service in more than 100 other languages. To reach the call center via Virginia Relay, including by TTY, dial 7-1-1. If wait times are long, Virginians can choose to get a call back and avoid having to stay on hold.

Additional information can be found online at the Virginia Department of Health Vaccine Information website at www.vdh.virginia.gov/covid-19-vaccine or the City of Suffolk’s COVID-19 website at www.suffolkva.us/coronavirus.
