City Offices Veterans Day Closing Schedule


In observance of Veterans Day, Suffolk City offices will be closed Friday, November 10, 2017. Normal operations will resume Monday, November 13, 2017, at 8:30 a.m. The City observes all State-designated holidays. Veterans Day is considered a holiday for the Commonwealth of Virginia and all State offices are closed on this day.

Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash on a one day delay. Friday’s route (Friday, November 10th) will be picked up on Saturday (Saturday, November 11th). TFC Recycling will also run on a one day delay with Friday’s routes picked up on Saturday. Suffolk Public Works Department reminds you that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 514-7630. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will also have their regular Friday collection picked up on Saturday, November 11th.

The Southeastern Public Service Authority (SPSA) Transfer Station in Suffolk will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, November 10th.  The SPSA Regional Landfill will be open from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, November 10th.

Suffolk Transit will operate as scheduled on Friday, November 10th.

East Suffolk Recreation Center, Whaleyville Community Center, and the Suffolk Parks & Recreation Administration Office will be closed on Friday, November 10th.  Suffolk Parks & Recreation joint use recreation facilities will be closed Friday, November 10th.

Suffolk’s four major parks (Lone Star Lakes, Constant’s Wharf, Sleepy Hole,

Bennett's Creek) will remain open Friday, November 10th; however, no park attendant will be on duty.

All Suffolk City Libraries (Morgan Memorial, North Suffolk, Chuckatuck) will be closed Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th.

The SuffolkArt Gallery will be closed Friday, November 10th.

The Suffolk Tourism Visitor Center will remain open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, November 10th.

The Suffolk Executive Airport will remain open on Friday, November 10th, however, the terminal will not be manned. The on-site restaurant will also be open on Friday, November 10th.
