The City of Suffolk is pleased to announce that, on January 3, 2018, they will convert to a new tax revenue software system, PCI’s myRevenueSystem. This software conversion project is the largest ever conducted by the City of Suffolk. The system is used primarily by the Offices of the Treasurer, Commissioner of the Revenue and City Assessor. Other Virginia localities that currently use this software include the Cities of Norfolk, Fairfax and Alexandria and the Counties of Loudoun, Chesterfield, Stafford, Henrico, Albemarle, and James City.
The new software system will greatly improve efficiency of operations. It is mobile-friendly, web-based, uses less paper and operates faster than the legacy system. Customer Service employees gain the ability to re-print bills on demand, and can combine different revenue transactions into a single payment for the customer. Enhancements have been made to the online portal, including the ability to view and print a personal property or real estate bill, as well as the ability to print receipts. A new feature includes E-checks, where payment can be made online for a flat fee of $1.50. Credit and debit card transactions will continue to be accepted.
In preparation for the software implementation, online payments will not be available from December 13, 2017 through January 2, 2018. Payments will still be accepted in the Treasurer’s Office, by mail, or through the drop-box located in the parking lot of City Hall. This software conversion has no impact on the December 5th due date for real estate and personal property tax bills.
