Erosion Advisory Service (SEAS) VA Shoreline Erosion Advisory Service (SEAS) is a free service available
to property owners experiencing erosion problems. SEAS is available to
come to your property, to discuss the erosion problems you are experiencing
and then provide a report with recommendations to stabilize the eroding
shoreline.
VA Institute of Marine
Science (VIMS) Virginia Institute of Marine Science (VIMS) provides technical assistance
and scientific advice to regulatory agencies on dredging and filling operations
that involve subaqueous bottoms and wetlands, all aspects of the marine
environment, marine science and marine affairs. The institute provides
technical assistance, often at no cost, to property owners whose development
plans have impacts on marine resources. The VIMS involvement in the permit
process is strictly advisory. Advice generally involves estimation of
marine environmental impacts and recommendation of alternatives or modifications
to minimize these impacts.
