Purpose
The South Hampton Roads Disability Services Board (DSB) is a consortium of localities comprised of the Cities of Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Norfolk and Suffolk. DSB's throughout the state provide additional services in three major areas: (1) the Rehabilitative Services Incentive Fund provides subgrants to agencies either expanding existing services or providing new ones for the disabled community; (2) DSB's are required to conduct a regional needs assessment to determine what the high priority needs are for the disabled in their community; and (3) the DSB acts as a clearinghouse for questions on the Americans with Disabilities Act.
