
Council Member Michael D. “Mike” Duman was elected to the Suffolk City Council on November 2, 2010 and was sworn in on January 3, 2011 as the representative for the Chuckatuck Borough. Councilman Duman graduated from Old Dominion University and served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army Reserve. Councilman Duman began his business career selling automobiles while attending college. He established his first auto dealership in 1980 and currently operates Mike Duman Auto Sales in Suffolk and several other locations in the region. He was selected the Virginia State Independent Quality Dealer of the Year in 2000 and was recognized by Virginia House Resolution #332.
Councilman Duman currently serves on the Western Tidewater Water Authority, the Western Tidewater Regional Jail Board and the City of Suffolk Public Safety Committee. In addition, he is a member of the Ruritan Club, Elks Lodge #687 and serves on the board of the Suffolk Humane Society and the American Red Cross.
His term expires December 31, 2014.
