Vice Mayor Charles F. Brown has been a member of the Suffolk City Council since 1994 and was Vice Mayor from 1996-2000. Prior to serving on City Council, Vice Mayor Brown was a member of the Suffolk Planning Commission and was appointed to the Suffolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.

Vice Mayor Brown holds a Bachelors Degree in Math and Physics from Fayetteville State University and a Masters Degree in Human Resources from George Washington University. He also completed additional coursework at Harvard University and Old Dominion University. His background in mathematics and science has enabled Vice Mayor Brown to devote his professional life to his personal passion, education. Vice Mayor Brown is retired from Northrop Grumman Newport News, where he served as an instructor at the Apprentice School.

Vice Mayor Brown is an active member of many professional and civic organizations and devotes much of his time to community activities, particularly relating to youth development.
