ELEVATED Threat Level Definition: Elevated risk of terrorist attack but a specific region of the USA or target has not been identified.

The United States, the State of Virginia and the City of Suffolk have heightened security measures to help deter terrorism and increase protection of America and Americans. We encourage members of the public to continue their daily work, family and leisure activities with a heightened awareness. The Virginia Corps Volunteer Program is an ideal way for citizens to discover opportunities for volunteering.

Virginia Public Inquiry Hotline [ 1-866-800-4280 - Monday through Friday, 8am - 5pm ]
Citizens should call the Virginia Public Inquiry Hotline if your local agencies cannot address your concerns at the local level.

Virginia State Police Terrorism Tip Hotline [ 1-866-488-8554 - 24 hours a day]
Citizens are encouraged to contact the Virginia State Police Terrorism Tip Hotline to report suspicious activity.

Notify all of the above if you suspect that an incident might be linked to terrorist activity.

Citizens of Suffolk may contact Captain James Judkins of the City of Suffolk Fire & Rescue Department for local preparedness information. In the event of a local terrorism alert, this number may be reached 24 hours a day.
