For the creation of the base map, the City of Suffolk was broken into 15
delivery areas. These areas represented areas of approximately equal density
of map features. 
The City of Suffolk GIS implementation is nearing the completion of the initial development phase. During this phase, the City developed a "base map" comprised of Black and White Aerial Photography, Topographic Contour information, the location of Physical Features and Land Parcel and Zoning layers. The Delivery Area map is shown below.
As the delivery areas were completed by the conversion vendor, city staff reviewed the map data for positional and attribute accuracy and completeness. If there were any problems with the data, it was returned to the vendor and corrected prior to be accepted by the city.

Future development in the GIS will include the creation of the Public Utilities Water Distribution and Sewer Collection networks, Public Works Storm Water Conveyance systems and Public Facilities locations.
