Earth Day

Enjoy a day of music, food, and family fun as we celebrate Earth Day and the Great American Cleanup from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at lovely Bennett’s Creek Park on April 19, 2014!

Several Earth friendly organizations will be on hand to show you steps you and your family can take to care for the planet.  Also, the Suffolk Clean Community Commission, TFC, and Goodwill will be offering a Recycling and Tire Amnesty Day from 10am-2pm.  Bring out your old computers, alkaline batteries, and tires for recycling, and bring any unwanted clothing or home goods for donation.

Youth Archery

Suffolk Parks and Recreation welcomes youth ages 6-15 to participate in a four day archery program to be held at the Lone Star Lakes Park archery range. The Kingsboro Bowmen will be instructing youth of all experience levels on the history, equipment and fundamentals of archery.

Participants with more experience will also have the chance to further improve their aim and competitive skills using 3D targets in an outdoor setting. All equipment will be provided by the Great Dismal Swamp National Wildlife Refuge. This event is free and space is limited.

Registration will begin February 3rd through April 11th. The program will be held on April 13th and 27th and May 4th and 18th , 2014.

Bass Fishing Tournament

Join us on May 3 from 6:30 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.  for this annual event. There are 11 lakes at Lone Star Lakes Park to choose from! Half of the proceeds raised will be donated to the March of Dimes of South Hampton Roads.  For more information, call 255-4032.
