How do I apply for water and/or sanitary sewer services?
New or existing residents should contact the department's Customer Service Division at 514-7000 when applying for service.
Renters will need to bring their lease and a picture ID into the Customer Service office. Also, if the property is located within the Conservation District renters need to ensure that a valid Rental Certificate of Occupancy is on file with the City of Suffolk. This document can be obtained from the property's owner or landlord. Please reference the Rental CO List for a listing of all properties located in the Conservation District.

How do I make water and/or sanitary sewer account inquiries?
Service bills inquiries (service transfer, termination, bill adjustments, delinquent payments, etc.) should contact the Customer Service Division at 514-7000.

How do I report sewer backups, overflows, or water leaks?
Citizens should contact the Customer Service Division at 514-7000 to report any sewer or water system problems including backups, overflows, or leaks.

How do I check the availability of water and/or sanitary sewer mains?
Developers, real estate agents, insurance providers, and property owners can contact the Department of Public Utilities concerning the availability of the City's utility systems. Inquiries of this nature may be directed to the Engineering Division at 514-7000 option 3.

How do I obtain a water quality analysis on my private well?
Well owners often have questions concerning the water quality of their privately owned well. The Department of Public Utilities' Water Quality Laboratory is certified to perform bacteriological and chemical testing on drinking water. Please contact the laboratory at 514-7040 for more information.

How do I make a water and/or sanitary sewer system line extension request?
Citizens may contact the Engineering Division at 514-7000 option 3 if they have questions regarding the extension of water or sewer service to their neighborhood.

How do I check the status of development plan reviews?
The Engineering Division is tasked with reviewing all development plans. Please contact them with all questions that pertain to the status of plan reviews at 514-7000 option 3.

How do I check the status of Capital Improvement Projects?
The Engineering Division is responsible for managing Capital Improvement Projects. Any inquiries concerning on-going capital projects, petition processes, schedules, construction complaints, and construction bid results may contact them at 514-7000 option 3.
