Post Construction Stormwater Management

In order to ensure that Stormwater Best Management Practices (BMP) or facilities are maintained to design criteria and continue to properly function years after construction, the City of Suffolk’s Stormwater Division conducts routine site inspections to identify and correct BMP deficiencies.

Process:

1. The Public Works, GIS division tracks and identifies all BMP’s within the City of Suffolk’s MS4 permit area.
2. A Stormwater inspector will contact BMP owners and conduct site inspections using the guidance documents listed below.
3. If deficiencies with the BMP are identified during a field inspection, the City inspector and property owner will work together towards resolution.
4. Once all identified deficiencies have been corrected, the BMP will return to an annual inspection schedule.
