Public Transit

The Department of Public Works coordinates the operation of the City's public transit system with Virginia Regional Transit. This system primarily operates in and around the core area of the City, with two bus routes:

Route 71 - South Suffolk/Obici Hospital
Route 74 - Lake Kennedy/South Suffolk

Bus services are available Monday thru Friday with a cost of $3.00 for an all day pass, or $1.50 one way. Passengers must have exact change. ADA passengers please call 757-963-9227. Buses are equipped with a bike rack. The Transit System Fund provides for safe and cost efficient fixed route transportation services to the citizens of Suffolk in various areas of the City and also provides transportation for students attending local community colleges.
