The Administrative Command is comprised of the Administrative Division, the Office of Professional Standards and Animal Control. The Administrative Division includes Emergency Communications, Central Records, Property and Evidence, Quartermaster, the Fugitive Unit, Staff Coordination, and the Administrative Analyst. The Office of Professional Standards includes Internal Affairs, Accreditation and Inspections, Training and Recruiting and Background Investigations. Animal Control includes Animal Control Officers and Animal Shelter. The Administrative Command also oversees the department’s volunteer and chaplain's programs.
Major Gerald Brandsasse joined the Suffolk Police Department in September of 1992 and has worked in various areas of the department to include Uniform patrol and Administration. He is a graduate of the 237th session of the FBI National Academy, Police Executive Leadership School (PELS), and holds an Associates of Criminal Justice from Paul D. Camp Community College. He was awarded the rank of Major in March 2016. Additionally, Major Brandsasse has attained the rank of Command Sergeant Major in the United States Army Reserve where he has served for over 33 years.
