Located in the heart of downtown, Suffolk Police Precinct 1 is responsible for 310 of the City’s 430 square miles. The precinct covers 12 of the Departments 18 patrol districts comprising of 46% of the City’s population. It is staffed with 57 sworn officers and handles 55%-60% of citizen calls for service received by the Department. Officers participate in numerous community related activities to include crime prevention, civic league attendance, and home owner association participation.
Captain Chandler joined the Suffolk Police Department in April of 1999. Captain Chandler has held various positions within the department to include field training officer, crime scene technician, detective and SWAT team member. Captain Chandler served the department as the commander of the Special Operations Unit where he managed a number of units such as the Fatal Crash Reconstruction Team, Hostage Negotiations Team and Search and Rescue Team. Captain Chandler is a 2006 graduate of the West Point Leadership Course and a 2014 Graduate of Saint Leo University’s Master of Science in Criminal Justice program.
