Professional Standards Division

The Professional Standards Division is the entity within the police department that helps to ensure the quality of the services being offered to our citizens. This entity contains the Internal Affairs Unit, Staff Inspections Unit, Accreditation, Recruiting, Background Investigations and Training. The Department received CALEA Accreditation (Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies) in March 2014 . Internal Affairs Unit

The Internal Affairs Unit is responsible for overseeing investigations into police department staff conduct. Some complaints are generated by citizens, but more are generated internally as part of our stringent review processes.
