Precinct 1 Uniform Patrol Division

Captain Steve Patterson is the Commanding Officer of the Precinct 1 Uniform Patrol Division. The Sector 1 Patrol Division is located within the Old Town Section of the City of Suffolk. Sector 1 Patrol Division officers are responsible for 12 patrol zones that cover 75% or 310 of the city’s 430 square miles. This precinct receives approximately 60-65% of all calls for service for the city. The precinct building is located at 230 E. Washington St in the heart of recently restored downtown.

Captain Steve Patterson joined the Suffolk Police Department in 1994. Throughout Captain Patterson’s career he has worked within the narcotics, tactical, and community policing fields addressing quality of life issues within the community. Captain Patterson earned a Bachelors of Science Degree in Governmental Administration from Christopher Newport University and a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Troy University. Captain Patterson is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy 240th Session. Captain Patterson is a life-long resident of Suffolk and he and his wife have two children.
