Community Corrections Program

The 5th Judicial District Community Corrections Program (CCP) serves the citizens of Suffolk, Franklin, Southhampton County & Isle of Wight

INTRODUCTION/AUTHORIZATION

The Comprehensive Community Corrections Act for local responsible offenders (effective July 1, 1995) enables any city, county, or combination thereof to develop, establish and maintain community-based corrections programs to provide the judicial system alternatives for offenders who require less than institutional custody. Community Corrections Services operation is consistent with State Codes, Chapter 5.4 and Title 53 Section 53-180 through 53-185.3 and §19.2-152.2 through §19.2-152.7 as a legal base. The program is funded by the Commonwealth through the General Appropriations Act. The Department of Criminal Justice Services periodically reviews each program to determine compliance.
