Turlington Road Culverts Rehabilitation Project

UPDATE

Tuesday May 30, 2023 a contractor will have the 600 block of Turlington Road closed to begin the project.  Detours will be in place to direct motorists to use the Route 13/32 Bypass.

The primary purpose of this project is to rehabilitate the culverts on Turlington Road over Kilby Creek. 

The existing structure is a triple barrel metal pipe culvert . New headwalls will be constructed and the existing pipes will be extended and re-lined. 

Rehabilitating this structure will improve the safety and efficiency of Suffolk’s roadways.

Preliminary Engineering:         $64,000

Right of Way:         $9,000

Construction:         $672,000

Total:         $745,000

January 2022 – Right of Way Acquisition to Begin
