Eggstravaganza - April 1, 2023
Join us at Bennett's Creek Park 11 AM - 2 PM for an egg-citing scavenger hunt. Visit with Peter Cottontail when he arrives at 11:15 AM. Food will be available for purchase in the park. This event is geared toward children 2-10 years old.
TGIF Summer Concert Series - 2023
Enjoy live music on Friday's in Suffolk at two of our parks this summer! All concerts are free and open to the public. Each event is 6:00 PM - 9:30 PM. Beer is available for purchase for those 21 and older. Coolers are not allowed at these events.

Stars & Stripes Spectacular - July 4, 2023
Enjoy the Stars and Stripes Spectacular on July 4th as the skies of Suffolk light up with a fireworks show over the beautiful Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park and Marina. The park will open at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment, children’s activities, merchandise vendors and a variety of food choices. A large area with bounce houses and games will be available for children 12 and under. A live band will take the stage at 6:00 p.m. with a repertoire of songs in a variety of styles. The fireworks show will begin at 9:00 p.m. for the entire family to enjoy.
There is no on-site parking for this event. Shuttle parking will begin at 5:15 p.m. from the following sites:
• First Baptist Church located at 237 N Main Street
• Suffolk Municipal Building parking lot located at 440 Market Street
• Mills Godwin Courthouse Building located at 150 N Main St
The last shuttle run before the fireworks begin is at 8:20 pm. Shuttles will resume after the fireworks have concluded.
Carpool Cinema - May 6, 2023
Twice a year, a movie is conducted on the lawn of our beautiful Bennett’s Creek Park at 3000 Bennett’s Creek Park Road. This event is usually held in May and October. Bennett’s Creek Park will transform into a Movie Theater with two screens. Stay comfy in your car, or bring your lawn chairs and blankets. Arrive early to get the best seat in the park! A concessions areas will be available with food and treats. Pets are welcomed on a leash. This event is free and open to the public.
Taste of Suffolk - September 9, 2023
Take a bite out of the annual Taste of Suffolk street festival. It is usually held on the second Saturday in September from 11am-6pm. The event site will stretch down Main Street starting on Finney Avenue and cover Washington Street from Commerce to Saratoga Street. Main Street will be lined with restaurants from all over Suffolk presenting some of their specialty food items, merchandise vendors displaying a variety of goods and services, all day entertainment with live music and contests that are sure to get everyone on their feet.
This event will require road closures on Main Street and Washington Street on September 9, 2023. Parking in the downtown area will be effected on Friday, September 8 and Saturday, September 9.
Festival of Lights at Sleepy Hole Park
November 24 - December 30, 2023
Enjoy a sprinkle of holiday cheer at the inaugural Suffolk Festival of Lights at Sleepy Hole Park. This drive-through light display will be open beginning November 25th, through December 30th, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The display will be closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day.
View an exhibit of five holiday light themes from the warmth and comfort of your car at the quaint Festival of Lights drive-through display at Suffolk's Sleepy Hole Park, located at 4616 Sleepy Hole Road. Additional light theme displays will be added each year moving forward to further enhance the festive experience.
Holiday Parade - December 9, 2023
Join in the lights and sounds of the Suffolk Holiday Parade. The parade starts at 7:00 p.m. Find the best spot to watch the floats, equestrian units, marching bands and festive vehicles stroll down West Washington Street and take a turn up North Main Street with the parade route ending at Finney Avenue.
This year’s Grandstand will be in front of the Suntrust Building in the 100 block of North Main Street. Be there to catch the performances of the local bands and performance groups. Free parking for the event is available in all City public lots including the Godwin Courthouse parking lot, Saratoga Street lot, Commerce Street Lot and Market Park parking lot.
This event will require road closures on Main Street, Washington Street and Prentis Street. Parking in the downtown area will be effected.
