State & Local Redistricting

Virginia Redistricting

The United States Constitution, the Constitution of Virginia, and the Code of Virginia require that the Commonwealth and its localities redistrict following the Decennial Census. In accordance with the Supreme Court of Virginia's final order, the districts for U.S. Congress, Virginia Senate and House of Delegates have changed. Registered voters are able to view their voter information and new districts by accessing the Citizen Portal on the Virginia Department of Elections website. The City of Suffolk is now located in the 2nd U.S. Congressional District, the 17th VA Senate District and the 84th & 89th VA House Districts. Voter Notification Letters were sent to all City of Suffolk registered voters in June 2022.
