Line Maintenance

The primary function of the Line Maintenance Division is to maintain the City's 352 miles of sanitary sewer and 475 miles of water distribution mains.

Responsibilities


The Line Maintenance Division's responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining and repairing all water and sanitary sewer system lines
  • Placing water and sanitary sewer service taps
  • Responding to maintenance requests which include backups, overflows, and leaks 24 hours a day
  • Marking water and sanitary sewer lines in response to a Miss Utility request

Report Issues


Please contact the Customer Service Division to report any backups, overflow, or leaks in the water or sanitary sewer system at 757-514-7000. A Customer Service Representative will create a Line Maintenance work order. If the call is placed outside office hours, your call will be directed to the emergency after hours number.
