The following benefits come with being employed by the Suffolk Police Department:
1 day of sick leave per month with no limit on accumulation
1 day of vacation leave per month for first five years, increasing thereafter based on length of service
3 personal leave days per year and funeral leave as authorized by personnel policy
15 days of paid military leave for members of the military reserves

Full pay and benefits while attending the police academy
Health Insurance coverage at little or no cost to employee depending on options selected
Life insurance benefits at no cost to the employee
Optional Deferred Compensation and Supplemental Insurance plans available
Overtime pay for off duty time spent in court

Potential to earn college credits with the completion of the police academy
Take home car after completion of probationary period for officers residing within a 50 mile radius of SPD Headquarters (based on availability).
