The following benefits come with being employed by the Suffolk Police Department:
Newly-hired full-time Officer Recruits will receive twenty-four (24) hours of Recognition Leave, and newly-hired Certified Officers will receive forty (40) hours of Recognition Leave. Newly-hired full-time sworn personnel will accrue eight (8) hours of Sick Leave each month, in addition to eight (8) hours of Annual Leave per month. These numbers may increase with years of service.
Full-time civilian personnel accrue ten (10) hours of PTO each month. This number may increase with years of service.
1 day of sick leave per month with no limit on accumulation
1 day of vacation leave per month for first five years, increasing thereafter based on length of service
3 personal leave days per year and funeral leave as authorized by personnel policy
168 hours of paid military leave for members of the military reserves
