Administrative Command

About the Division


The Administrative Command is comprised of the Administrative Division, the Office of Professional Standards and Animal Control. The Administrative Division includes:
  • Administrative Analyst
  • Central Records
  • Emergency Communications
  • Fugitive Unit
  • Property and Evidence
  • Quartermaster
  • Staff Coordination
The Office of Professional Standards includes Internal Affairs, Accreditation and Inspections, Training and Recruiting and Background Investigations. Animal Control includes Animal Control Officers and Animal Shelter. The Administrative Command also oversees the department's volunteer and chaplain's programs.

About Major Buie

Major James (Danny) Buie joined the Suffolk Police Department in September of 1996. Throughout his career he has worked various assignments to include Uniform Patrol, Special Investigations, Special Operations and was the first supervisor chosen to lead the Neighborhood Enforcement Team.

During his career, Major Buie has served as a member of the department's SWAT team and is currently its Executive SWAT Officer. Major Buie has attended various law enforcement schools such as the West Point Leadership School, Professional Executive Leadership School (PELS) and is a graduate of the 264th session of the FBI National Academy.
