Office on Youth
The Office on Youth fosters the passion and dreams of Suffolk youth by promoting a quality and accessible system to address the needs of youth and families of the City of Suffolk. We work to achieve healthy, safe and nurturing communities through collaborative partnerships, education, advocacy, public policy, and the maximization of community initiatives and resources.
The overall mission of the Office on Youth is to be a key leader of positive change for Suffolk's youth by promoting a safe educational and cultural environment for youth to build lasting, nurturing relationships while developing competence, confidence, and character in young adults.
2018 Youth Achievement Awards
The Suffolk Department of Parks & Recreation Advisory Commission, in conjunction with the Suffolk Office on Youth, is accepting nominations for the 2018 Suffolk Youth Achievement Awards. The awards banquet is scheduled for Tuesday, June 5, 2018.
Applications are now being accepted for the 2018 Youth Achievement Awards. These awards honor youth who have made a significant effort to improve their lives through leadership, athletics, community service, and more. In the process, they have inspired others to strive to be better and to make a difference. Residents are encouraged to take the time to nominate an individual or group that is deserving of this recognition. These awards are open to all youth that reside in Suffolk.
The categories are as follows:
• Outstanding Community Service Award
• Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award—HIGH SCHOOL ONLY
• Outstanding Athletic Participation Award –MIDDLE SCHOOL ONLY
• Outstanding Youth Leadership Award
• Rising Star Award
• Outstanding Group Citizenship Award
• Outstanding Performing Arts Award

Youth Advisory Council
The Suffolk Office on Youth is currently accepting membership applications for the Suffolk Youth Advisory Council for the 2016-2017 school year.
The Suffolk Youth Advisory Council meets monthly to discuss issues that directly affect the youth of Suffolk and offers recommendations to help implement change. The SYAC is open to students in the 7th through 12th grades. The SYAC plans activities and events for youth to participate in to raise awareness of issues faced by youth in Suffolk.
