Standing Committees


On December 16, 2009, City Council adopted an ordinance amending Chapter 2, Article III, of the Code of the City of Suffolk establishing Standing Committees. These Committees will review all applicable items associated with the specific subject matter, and their duties shall include, but not be limited to, monitoring and recommending to City Council an official policy in each area. As prescribed in the ordinance, the Committees will: meet monthly on a regular meeting day and time; be comprised of a Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson from the membership of City Council, as appointed by the Mayor; include a City Staff representative designated to serve as the Secretary; solicit input from interested persons and organizations; conduct studies; and enlist the assistance of, and participation from members of the general public.
