Suffolk Sheriff’s Scholarship Awarded

Since 1994, the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Sheriff’s Institute have awarded seventy-two scholarships totaling $56,300 to students residing in the City of Suffolk.  This is an annual scholarship program available to students that are majoring in Criminal Justice or Law Enforcement related studies.  For further information, you may contact the Suffolk Sheriff’s Office at 757-514-7840.

The Virginia Sheriffs’ Institute (VSI) Scholarship Program was established to provide an opportunity for young people across Virginia to pursue an educational curriculum in law enforcement or criminal justice. Accordingly, the VSI’s Board of Directors has established the application process for students to receive scholarships to assist in their educational endeavors. The scholarships are available only to students in jurisdictions where sheriffs participate in the VSI’s fundraising efforts. This program is limited to students attending Virginia colleges and universities.

Beginning this year, VSI will only accept online applications. The application deadline for the 2019-2020 school year is April 12, 2019.  Applications submitted online after this deadline will not be considered. It is necessary for resident sheriffs to submit a letter of recommendation for each completed online application.
