Green Infrastructure

The Nansemond River is a vital watershed with influence that reaches across many jurisdictional boundaries. It is Suffolk’s founding river with natural and cultural assets that should be protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy. This watershed is vital to regional water supplies and includes environmental and agricultural assets that can be enhanced by an improved green infrastructure network. As a first step towards further resiliency, this study will identify assets and opportunities that can be used to inform decision makers as to the many benefits green infrastructure can bring to economic vitality, land use planning, capital improvement project construction, and an improved way of life for the citizens of the watershed.
