Pughsville Area Drainage Improvements

A Design Public Hearing will be held at the New Hope Baptist Church on November 30th, 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.  The purpose of this Public Hearing is to receive public input on the proposed drainage improvements in the Pughsville Area.

New Hope Baptist Church: 4260 Pughsville Rd, Suffolk, VA 23435.

The following items will be available at the Public Hearing:

  1. Design plan sheets
  2. Public hearing brochure
  3. Information regarding the tentative project schedule
  4. Property impacts and right-of-way relocation assistance information
  5. The approved environmental document

The purpose of the project is to provide for some much needed drainage improvements in the Pughsville Area. This will be accomplished by installing a drainage trunk line down John St from Townpoint Rd to the Outfall at the end of John St in Chesapeake. A stormwater pond will also be included South of Queen St to help attenuate some of the flow going into Chesapeake. The stormwater pond will also provide some water quality credits for the project. With a portion of the project along John St being in the City of Chesapeake it should be noted that coordination between the two municipalities is required.

Comments can be submitted before December 15th

Comment sheets will be available at the meeting and staff will be available to record verbal comments.
