Tele-Pay Payments

Payments for Real Estate Taxes and/or Personal Property Taxes will be accepted via tele-pay in accordance with the guidelines set forth/stated in the Treasurer's TELE-PAY disclaimer. Payments can be made using Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express credit cards.

Payment Type


The Office of the Treasurer (City of Suffolk, Virginia) accepts and considers TELE-PAY payments to be as follows: credit card transactions conducted via the telephone through the Service Provider appointed by the Treasurer.

Availability


TELE-PAY payments will be accepted 24 hours a day, with the exception of system unavailability ("down-time") due to updates, upgrades, or technical difficulties experienced by the Service Provider.

Due Dates


TELE-PAY payments that are initiated after 12 midnight of the due date will incur penalty and interest according to Virginia State Code Section 58.1.

How Payments Are Applied


All payments received for taxes will be normally applied to the oldest tax first. Payments may also be applied to any unpaid obligation to the City of Suffolk.

Credit Card Approval


All credit card transactions are subject to approval. Therefore, if a charge card transaction is declined, the taxes will be considered unpaid and may incur penalty and interest.

Late Payment


The penalty for late payment is 10% and the interest rate is 10% annually.
