Deputy City Manager

Responsibilities


The Deputy City Manager directs, manages and oversees the day to day and long-range activities of the Development departments in order to meet the needs of the community in accordance with policies established by City Council. These departments include:
The Deputy City Manager also serves as a liaison between the City Manager's Office, employees, citizens, civic organizations, state and federal agencies and is responsible for coordinating and carrying out the City's development initiatives.

Al Moor Biography


City Manager Patrick Roberts announced June 11, 2020, the appointment of Albert "Al" Moor as interim Deputy City Manager effective July 1, 2020.

Experience


Moor previously served as the Director of Public Utilities since 1995 and has over thirty-six years of progressive municipal government experience.

Education


Moor holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering Technology from Old Dominion University. He completed the Senior Executive Institute: UVA Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, the LEAD Program: UVA Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service, and AWWA Water Utility Management Institute sponsored by Virginia Tech.
