1.
Am I on probation? I wasn’t told that in Court.
When you received your copy of the Court Order in Court, you were formally advised in writing that you were placed on probation. There is a sentence on the Court Order that specifically states “you have been placed on probation under the supervision of the Fifth Judicial District Community corrections Program.”
2.
When do I need to report to the Community Corrections Office?
You have three (3) business days to report.
3.
How long do I have to be on probation?
From six (6) months to one (1) year depending on the charge and whether or not the charge is a felony or misdemeanor. In some extreme cases, the Court can order two (2) years or supervised probation.
4.
Can I move out of state?
No. We don’t have the capability of transferring a case out-of-state. We are only permitted to transfer a case to another jurisdiction in the state of Virginia.
5.
Can I have my case transferred to the city where I live?
Yes. Your case can be transferred to a local jurisdiction close to your residence.
6.
Am I allowed to own a gun?
You are not allowed to use, own, possess, transport or carry a gun if you have been convicted of domestic assault (misdemeanor or felony) or have a felony charge.

9.
Do I need to pay anything to be on probation?
Yes. Everyone referred from Court is required to pay a one-time supervision fee of
$100.00. However, if you receive any type of assistance (i.e., Disability, SSI, or any other benefits from Social Services), your fee will be reduced to $25.
10.
What documents do I need when I report to the Community Corrections Program?
You will need to have in your possession a copy of your Court Order, a photo ID, social security card and verification of employment and residence.
