  1. Active Adult Senior Aerobics Class

    July 4, 2019, 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM

    The next session of Active Adult Senior Aerobics will be at East Suffolk Recreation Center June 4-July 11. This class meets Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00 AM-11:00 AM. Registration is $12 per session, or $2 drop-in fee. This class focuses on floor aerobics which may help to increase your mobility, balance, strength, and flexibility. Instruction includes stretching, general conditioning, step aerobics and toning. This class is a great way to start or maintain your healthy lifestyle.

  1. Independence Day Holiday - Suffolk City Offices are Closed

    July 4, 2019 - July 5, 2019

    In observance of Independence Day, Suffolk City offices will be closed Thursday, July 4, 2019 and Friday, July 5, 2019. Normal operations will resume Monday, July 8, 2019, at 8:30 a.m. There will be no trash or recycling collection on Thursday, July 4th. Suffolk Public Works Department will pick up trash on a one-day delay with Thursday’s trash routes on Friday and Friday’s trash routes on Saturday. TFC Recycling will also run on a one-day delay with Thursday’s routes on Friday and Friday’s routes on Saturday. The Suffolk Public Works Department reminds residents that trash must be placed at curbside no later than 7 a.m. on the day of collection. Businesses located in the Downtown Business Overlay District (DBOD) will have their collection run as scheduled with collections on Tuesday and Friday. For more information on refuse collection, please call Public Works at 514-7630.

    July 4, 2019, 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM @ Constant's Wharf Park & Marina

    Enjoy the Stars and Stripes Spectacular on Thursday, July 4th, as the skies of Suffolk light up with a fireworks show over the beautiful Nansemond River at Constant’s Wharf Park & Marina. The park will open at 5:30 p.m. with entertainment, children’s activities, merchandise vendors and a variety of food choices. A large area with bounce houses and games will be available for children 12 and under for a $5.00 entry fee. Johnny White and the Elite Band will take the stage at 6:00 p.m. with a repertoire of songs in a variety of styles. The fireworks show will begin at 9 p.m. for the entire family to enjoy. There is no onsite parking for this event. Shuttle parking will begin at 5 p.m. from the following sites: • First Baptist Church - 237 North Main St • Suffolk City Hall parking lot - 442 West Washington St • Mills Godwin Courts Building - 150 North Main St The last shuttle run before the fireworks begin is at 8:30 pm. Shuttles will resume after fireworks have concluded.
